Lycoming Engines recently employed the talents of Penn College students for a project that will have lasting benefits for the renowned company. As part of a class project, welding students fabricated an access platform designed by Tyler J. Gustafson, majoring in engineering design technology. The aluminum structure will span between two new Okuma LU-45 twin-turret lathes, intended to help expand Lycoming’s internal cylinder barrel manufacturing capacity.
Four Penn College alumni who work at Lycoming Engines' Williamsport headquarters made a surprise visit to campus Thursday morning to share their company’s Little League Baseball World Series pin with several college offices.
Pennsylvania College of Technology presented Whitnie-Rae Mays with the Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award at its Summer 2023 Commencement ceremony, held Aug. 5 at the Community Arts Center. Mays earned a Bachelor of Science in applied technology studies from Penn College in 2014 and an Associate of Applied Science in advertising art in 2012. She is a graphic designer and marketing specialist with Lycoming Engines, a manufacturer of aircraft engines headquartered in Williamsport.
Lycoming Engines, a longtime corporate partner of Pennsylvania College of Technology, has made a gift to help the college’s Baja SAE team purchase an enclosed trailer – one that will safely store and transport the club’s off-road racing vehicle and related equipment to prestigious competitions nationwide.
Longtime Pennsylvania College of Technology partner Lycoming Engines has donated 15 aircraft engines to be used for instructional purposes in the college’s aviation majors. The donation, valued at $317,500, will benefit students enrolled in the aviation maintenance technology bachelor’s degree, the aviation technology associate degree and the aviation maintenance certificate major.
